But this post is NOT about coffee. Nope. I know that could be disappointing to all of you coffee-holics out there. It’s about way more than coffee (which is a pretty cool topic in itself).
Limitless.
Think about that name. How do you respond when you hear that word? Maybe it inspires you. I know it does me. Or, maybe you have a gut reaction saying that it’s just not the way the world works. I get that.
To me, the word evokes all of the possibilities we were born with. It smacks of opportunity and power and options. It means that life abounds with no limits if we are willing to explore with an open and creative mind as to those possibilities.
Limitless. I have to wonder sometimes if those who go there first thing in the morning don’t have an uncanny psychological edge for their day over the little diner called XXXX Coffee Shop. If I were a scientist, maybe I’d conduct some research on that!
Let Go of Limiting Beliefs.
We all get skeptical at times. We think maybe we are limited. I mean, if nothing else, don’t ask me to cook. Or dance. Or paint. Or build a deck. Or, speak French. Or, any one of a multitude of things that serve as our self-limiting beliefs. Usually, the only thing holding us back is our own self-imposed limits.
The truth is, we might not really care about those things mentioned. But I know that I’ll hear things like, “I’d really love to dance like that. I admire all those people on Dancing with The Stars.” I hear that and I know that some people are merely speaking words. I started dancing in my mid-fifties. I had all of the usual excuses. The difference is that I had made up my mind that I wasn’t stopping with the discomfort that comes from learning something new. I’d show up at group workshops. I’d take private lessons with instructors (which, isn’t cheap). I’d go out social dancing. And I’d mess up. But I never quit.
Think Outside of the Box.
We often hear the term to “think outside of the box.” There is so much power to getting outside of the box. Another way to put it might be to “think in a limitless manner.” There’s power in pushing yourself to learn something new. It expands & creates new neural networks. In fact, back to dancing, it’s proven that it may help prevent against dementia as you age. Dancing doesn’t have to be that “thing” you pursue.
But there are things that can expand our horizons and push us outside of the proverbial comfort zone.
As you think about your day today – maybe over your own cup of joe – remember that you are LIMITLESS. You simply need to choose where and in what you want to expand past your own limited box and let go of those self-imposed limiting beliefs.
So, what do YOU think? Where have you limited your thinking? Where could you step outside of the box? Post your comment below.
Joe.
I love your optimistic ideology. I could use a shot that.
Mitch
Thank you, Mitch! We all need that sometimes.
